At Tao of Data, we believe that individual data ownership is a fundamental right. Our mission is to inform and educate individuals about the importance of owning their data. We aim to find out how much our data is worth, a question that is clearly obfuscated. We aim to identify the policymakers, tech leaders, and statists who have misaligned visions of AI use. We will also highlight the visionaries who are building a new data infrastructure in the right way.
In this day and age, data is everything. At Tao of Data, we believe that every person should have control over their individual data. Our mission is to educate and inform people about the importance of data ownership and how it can be achieved. We strive to help individuals and organizations alike so that they can own their data, protect their data and fully benefit from their data.
THE BIG PROBLEM
There has been a saying in Silicon Valley, the world's tech hub, for more than 20 years; ‘software is eating the world.’ All information and data have been slowly aggregating online and to private corporate servers. What we say, what we do, what we think, what we look like, what we buy, where we go, who we talk to, what causes we care about, our IQ, our EQ, our interests, our finances, our family, even our retina, fingerprint, and genes. All of it has become digital data. And yet, we don't own any of it.
One of the great quotes about preserving individual freedoms is from George Washington:
"Property rights and freedom are inseparable. You cannot have one without the other."
The data you generate going about your daily life is property. And in the current data regulatory framework, you have very limited rights over your data.
